Recent approvals and demonstrated clinical outcomes support a current advantage, while biosimilar approvals, expired Prolia patents and realized net price declines constrain durability and pricing power. Manufacturing capabilities support execution, but comparative cost superiority is not demonstrated.

Approved medicines, clinical evidence and product-specific patents create differentiated commercial positions. UPLIZNA's disclosed first-and-only approval for IgG4-RD and Repatha's demonstrated cardiovascular outcomes support this advantage beyond profitability alone.

Durability: Product-specific and finite. Multiple achieved approvals support portfolio renewal, but the passages do not establish long remaining exclusivity across the portfolio. Pipeline candidates represent potential rather than existing protection.

Risks: Prolia's disclosed RANKL antibody patents expired in 2025, and biosimilars have been approved for several major products. Substitution policies, payer restrictions and net price declines weaken monetization.
