# First Solar Moat

First Solar has a narrow, policy-dependent advantage from its established domestic manufacturing footprint and preferential economics for domestically manufactured modules. Stable reported U.S. market pricing supports this assessment despite global price declines and reduced international production. Proprietary technology provides additional differentiation, but the passages do not demonstrate a durable technological lead or unrestricted pricing power. Policy changes, customer terminations and identified Series 7 manufacturing issues materially limit durability.

## cost_advantage

Existing U.S. manufacturing provides preferential policy-supported economics relative to imported modules. Domestic-content incentives, eligibility restrictions and import tariffs support demand and pricing in First Solar's primary market. This is a location-dependent economic advantage; the passages do not establish lower unsubsidized manufacturing costs than competitors.

Durability: Current but conditional. Established domestic production supports an advantage today, while the duration of protective policies and competitors' responses remain uncertain. Planned capacity adds potential rather than demonstrated advantage.
