# Revvity Moat

Status: published. Policy: company-analysis-1.

Revvity has proprietary technologies and workflow software with demonstrated renewals, but the passages do not establish durable protection against substitution across the business. Pricing actions partly offset costs in 2023–2024, demonstrating some realized pricing flexibility. Subsequent tariff and diagnostic mix pressures show limits to resilience. These disclosures establish plausible advantages, but neither a company-wide narrow moat nor a demonstrated absence of one.

## switching_costs

Scientific workflow integration and recurring software relationships are plausible sources of switching friction. Actual contract renewals support repeat demand, but migration costs and customer dependence are not established.

Durability: Renewals and noncancelable subscriptions support existing commercial relationships. Their duration and protection against replacement remain uncertain; disclosed longer-duration remaining obligations are immaterial.

Risks: Technological change and capable competitors can reduce workflow relevance. Deferred revenue growth can reflect new business, acquisitions or billing timing rather than improved retention.

Invalidation: The proposed mechanism would be undermined by sustained renewal losses, customers migrating workflows without material disruption, or recurring software demand declining despite stable end markets.

## intangible_assets

Owned patents, proprietary know-how and licensed technologies provide current technical assets. Their effectiveness as durable barriers is asserted by management rather than demonstrated through exclusivity outcomes or sustained competitive wins.

Durability: No patent-expiration schedule, protected revenue share or demonstrated exclusion of alternatives is supplied. Continued innovation and access to licensed technology are necessary.

Risks: Competitors possess substantial intellectual property and development resources. Patents can expire or be challenged, and licensed rights can be lost.

Invalidation: The proposed advantage would be undermined by commercially successful substitutes bypassing protected technology, loss of important licensed rights, or sustained share losses in products dependent on proprietary technology.
